Day 4 – Luxor – Esna -Edfu
After breakfast, we can enjoy optional tour to Karnak and Luxor temples. In the beginning we will start to see Karnak temples. Almost 3000 years in only in Karnak. The next visit will be to Luxor temple, built by Amenophis III and subsequently expanded by Ramses II, and is the only temple with Pharaonic monuments, Greco-Roman, Coptic and Muslims. After these two visits, you can make another optional tour of the Nile to reach the Necropolis of Thebes, Valley of the Kings. There we will visit the Funerary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, and enjoy the views of this wonderful valley, with its colossal stone statues representing Amenhotep III. A visit really divine, as these two statues are 18 meters high and are a clear demonstration of the power of the pharaohs of the time, given that the rocks had to be transported from Gebel el Ahmar. After this visit, we will return to the cruise ship to sail to Esna, crossing the lock and moving towards Edfu. Overnight on board.
Day 5 – Esna – Edfu – Kom Ombo – Aswan
After arriving at Edfu, optionally we can visit Edfu Temple, dedicated to Horus. This temple is considered as the best preserved of all Egypt, and is considered as the most important after Karnak. It has 137 meters long, 79 wide and 35 high. One of the distinctive features of this temple is its lighting system, based on increasingly smaller halls and rooms that are preventing access of light as it progresses, until the sanctuary, where only light enters through a small axis. After this visit, we will continue to Kom Ombo and we can visit optionally Kom Ombo Temple, the temple which is dedicated to the gods Sobek and Horus. This temple has pretty reliefs dedicated to medicine, which have been studied by historians to learn more about the science of the time. It should be noted that, originally, the temple was dedicated to God Sobek, but after some time, local citizens added the Horus God, because God Sobek was the representation of evil. After this optional visit we will go back to the Nile cruise, which will continue sailing to Aswan while we sleep. Accommodation on board.
Day 6 – Aswan
Once we are reaching Aswan, we will have the opportunity to make an optional visit to Abu Simbel, one of the most beautiful temples of those built during the reign of Ramses II (as well as one of the most beautiful in Egypt). The facade has 33 meters high and 38 wide, and has four colossal statues of Ramses II, twenty meters high each, which, unlike those found in other temples, they were directly carved in the rock. After this visit, we will go back to Aswan, going through the dam of the same name. This dam was built to regulate the waters of the great Nile since it is really a giant work of engineering. Upon arrival to Aswan, we will take felucca (a typical Egyptian sailboat fishing boat), and from there, we can admire the Mausoleum of Agha Khan, the Botanical Garden and Elephantine Island, next to the city of Aswan. After this wonderful optional visit, we spend the night in Aswan on Board.
Day 7 – Aswan – Cairo
